Knocklofty Reserve
Knocklofty Reserve offers a moderate 4.1km hike, with a loop that features a steep climb up a fire trail to Knocklofty Reserve Summit. The walk is easily accessible, just 3km from the Hobart city centre in West Hobart. There is free parking (turn left on Forest Road from Molle St, then turn right into spacious free parking at Knocklofty Parking and Picnic Area).
There’s a bin with dog poo bags at the start of the walk, which is helpful. Just head along the trail from the car park, veer left at the junction (you can go slightly up and left, or down and right) and keep to the left as you go all the way up the Summit Track, which is essentially a fire trail. At the top is Knocklofty Summit, and then it’s a lovely walk down, with some steps in place in the steeper areas, back down into an off-leash area as you head back to the car park.
